Dear Julie from the Real World (pt. 2)

I didn't want this to become an extended correspondence. I thought I had made my feelings clear earlier. But you just didn't listen, did you? I know, I know, I don't have to watch the Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Inferno II on MTV at 10/9 central. But I want to; so sue me.

Let's look at your performance from last night's episode (paraphrased, of course): when they hooked you up to the zip line, you said, "I like being up high, closer to God." I had to rewind my Tivo twice. Surely she didn't say that. But you did.
When you were attempting to pull yourself up the zip line, a strenuous task I'm sure, you started grunting, "Dear Lord, help me win the Ion Lifesaver. Dear Lord, help me win the Ion Lifesaver." Over and over again.

Julie, have you considered any of the other major religions? They’re all pretty much the same. We can really do without you.

Sincerely,
NFlanders

Let me just say that you speak for so many! What is her trip? Last time I watched her on MTV she was struggling with her faith. Has she come back to the fold? Who invited her back? Let's get em!

Wow. You just tapped a major, major, major pet peeve of mine. I'm constantly amazed by the amount of people whose only reference point to Mormonism is Julie; they don't know about Joseph Smith, the BOM, polygamy, or anything else; just Julie. Not even Steve Young. Just Julie. It's amazing and maddening at the same time.

Oh, and one more thing: Did you see the one where that one evangelical guy threw himself into the Inferno, and Julie was crying b/c he got sent home, and complaining that since the evangelical guy was the only other religious person, no one else understand the symbolism of his sacrifice? Because he sacrificed himself on a game show for his teammates, just like Christ sacrficed himself for all of humanity. I'm not making this up. Please tell me someone else saw it.

Davis, I did see that episode. It was mortifying.
That someone could draw a comparison between Jesus and Jon truly boggles the mind.

After all the real and lasting damage some past LDS leaders have inflicted on us, relatively harmless Julie has all my patience. You just wish she’d mature in private and not do this stupid stuff on TV. She’s just a kid. Get over it.
